The team

We would like to introduce you to our dedicated dental team. We all believe that prevention and maintaining the foundations of the teeth is at the heart of successful dentistry. Our team of dentists work closely with our hygienist and use the highest quality materials to provide personalised dental care.

I graduated from Leeds University in 1991 and chose to start work in general practice in North Yorkshire. I also gained experience working as a clinical assistant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After a spell on the Isle of Bute, Scotland, I returned back to my native Teesdale, when in 2003 I became a partner in Victoria Dental practice with Helen. Over the years I have been a vocational trainer, dental representative to Darlington P.C.T. and a member of Durham Local Dental Committee. I am currently a committee member for the charity Dental Project Peru, after doing voluntary dental work in Peru in 2006. Outside dentistry I met Helen in my university days in Leeds and have three rapidly growing children. I am passionate about mountain biking and enjoy keeping fit and being outdoors in general.

I graduated from Leeds University in 1990 but continued to work in Leeds Dental Institute as a House Officer in Periodontology, Children, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and Emergency departments. Simon and I then moved to North Yorkshire where I worked in general practice in Scarborough for three years. Living on an island appealed and we moved to the Isle of Bute. Simon worked on the island and I commuted to the mainland on the ferry. This was fun, but I always wondered if I would get home if the weather was bad. Once we became parents we decided to move back to Simon's roots (and near Grandparents). I feel strongly that prevention and education is at the heart of good dentistry and a healthy life and to that end, when not in the practice, I am actively involved in all my children's schools. I have been a school governor, P.T.A. member and I make regular visits to the schools to help with dental education. With Simon I am also on the Dental Project Peru committee. In my free time I like to go to the gym and aerobics. For the last couple of years I have been learning the piano - slowly.

I graduated in dentistry from Newcastle University in 2001 after enjoying my student days and working for a while as part of my elective in the Community Dental Service in Perth, Australia. Since then I have worked at Victoria Dental Practice through practice changes and currently with Simon and Helen. To add breadth to my skills, since 2007 I have also worked in Newcastle Dental School as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Conservation. During this time I married Carolyn a qualified solicitor, and in November 2007 we were delighted that Matthew was born who has probably changed our lives forever. My hobbies include enjoying the outdoors, sports in general and when Matthew allows, sleep!

I have been qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Newcastle Dental Hospital since December 2003. Since then I have been working in general practice in the North East of England, and I joined Victoria Dental Practice in September 2008 where I enjoy working.

I feel I have settled in well and I like working along side the friendly professional dental team. My interests and hobbies outside of work are going to the gym and socialising with friends.

I have worked for Victoria Dental practice since leaving school, and feel I have seen families develop and grow around me. I am now the practice manager and use my extensive dental and practice knowledge to help me guide staff and patients alike. I qualified as a dental nurse in 1999, but have continued to develop my knowledge with qualifications in Radiography, Oral Hygiene and Customer Care. I am registered with the G.D.C. Outside work my family is important to me. I have two teenage daughters and two spoilt cats. I enjoy reading and travelling with my partner Fraser.
